Group Project Reflection
My name is Anthony Menendez, and I will be reviewing a set of group presentations. The presentations are split up into three groups. Not only will I be reviewing the groups performances, but I will also be stating about additional items that they put into their presentation. Items will include, videos, and pictures. Additionally, I will also compare each group when reviewing each one of them. Also, I won't be hard on each group as this was our first project. I will treat this as a "learning moment."
Group 1 was the first to perform, so I won't be as hard on them. While group 1 had nice visuals in their presentation, first, I'd like to talk about their performance. Group 1's performance had flaws, but it's hard to get on them as, this was our first presentation, and we're also presenting from home. When you listened to group 1's presentation, it was obvious that they were reading directly from the powerpoint. While, not all the group members did this, it was however, a common theme within the group. However, group 1 did make up for it with the added visuals. I was intrigued by the added pictures and video, I believe that's what kept my attention during their presentation.
Group 2 was an improvement on the performance side, but not as interesting on the visual end. While presenting, the group members were engaging and did not have a "robot voice." What do I mean by "robot voice?" I mean, that while you were listening, you were actually paying attention. Group 2 wasn't boring with their presentation, they had an active voice and didn't read straight from the powerpoint. But I wish I can say the same for their visuals. While group 2's vocal performance was good, they underachieved with their visuals. I lost attention, during their videos as is it wasn't as engaging as group 1's visuals. Group 2 was an improvement on the vocal side of presenting, but a downgrade on the visual side of presenting.
Before getting into group 3's performance, we saw the mistakes of the other groups and decided not to repeat them. I guess that's the perk of presenting last. Group 3 had an active voice, and none of us read straight from the powerpoint, except I did a tiny bit. While, we couldn't predict how the other groups were going to do on the visual end, we saw their mistakes on the vocal side of presenting and knew we couldn't be that same way. Luckily, we thought ahead and remembered what was on our powerpoint. When we used visuals, we knew that's a big way to keep listeners engaged. Since, everyone's favorite part of the presentation are the visuals.
All in all, this was a good first project for everyone and it was a great learning experience. But group 3 had the best presentation, as they were the best on the vocal and visual side. While we all had stuff to improve on, the first two groups had either a robot voice or boring visuals. Which group 3 had neither of those issues in our presentation. I believe in the next project, each group will show improvement on their performance from this presentation. As stated before, I examined the most important parts of each group's presentation.
Excellent reflection!! Very good writing!
