Speech Group Presentations Review

During our SPC class, the class was divided intro groups in order to create presentations discussing details on the three chapters assigned to us: chapters 3, 9, and 10. Each one of the groups divided sections within the chapter between themselves so that every group member was able to present their project.

 Group One

This was the first group to present and between you and me, I was not feeling that energized that morning, but I was pushing through it to watch the presentation. I really enjoyed how the group conveyed their thoughts with everybody, though there times where the presentation dragged on due to a large video. I was honestly expecting there to be difficulties throughout the presentation, but it was very good to see that it went very smoothly without any issues. If there were fewer videos in the presentation, I thought it would have been perfect, but getting bombarded with multiples videos in a row just gets boring. Nonetheless, group one did a great job presenting their chapter and I learned a lot of new things regarding how we communicate with one another outside of cultural boundaries.

Group Two

Group Two presented the following class, and they had a personally ludicrous amount of videos shown in the presentation. I honestly zoned out a little bit during some of it, and I believe at one point there was a video that was playing for over 5 minutes. Considering our class time is only 50 minutes, these videos were chewing out way too much time from the class and as a result, there were a number of students that were unable to present, and had to take time out of a separate lecture in order to finish. This could have gone a lot smoother, and I personally find that having a presenter present the information works better as a whole.

Group Three

The final group, also being my own group, presented Group Leadership and Problem Solving. I feel like our group did a good job presenting our chapter. Our group did not use many videos, and consequentially that made it much less shorter than the rest of the presentations. I feel like we did a good job of keeping our slides clear and to the point while providing the most amount of information directly from the book.

Overall I felt like everybody, in general, did a great job at presenting their slides to the class, and I learned a lot of new things on working in groups and making great decisions within those groups. The next time that I present, I'll try to be better at presenting so that I can make sure I get my point across clearly and concisely.
