SPC Theme Projects Review
Emanuelle Guillemi
Today, I will be reviewing the projects that the three groups received, had to with current event topics that are relevant to our society at this very moment. Each individual group was assigned two sub-topics to work from pertaining to issues we are facing in the United States. The groups presented a PowerPoint where each member narrated their slide while providing information on their topics. It, however, was very evident that some groups put more effort into completing their projects than the other.
Group One
Group One was the first group to present and they were given the sub-topics of Education and Law & Order-Protest/Rallies. It was very interesting to see all of the facts that were brought up on these issues because it has been issues that have sparked recent protests around major cities in the United States. The group also touched on the topic of education and the gun violence that plagues schools. I did notice that Group One had issues with not all members showing up for their presentation and most of the people presenting were not using webcams. However, for the people that were able to present, they did a very good job displaying information pertaining to their topics. Their fluidity and presentation skills have grown since the beginning of the course, and it's pleasing to see a very well done presentation!
Group Two
Group two presented on Wednesday just after Group One's presentation. This group presented the matters of Healthcare and Immigration, which have been two of the largest issues being faced in politics within American society since the 2000s. Group two did a great job in mentioning past records of healthcare and immigration policy in order for the audience to understand the context of the information being presented in order to have an educated opinion on the subject matter at hand. The group showed videos that did a great job of showing just how much these issues are affecting our communities both locally and nationally. I will have to sadly admit that I believe that this group performed the most poorly compared to the other groups. I heard multiple times from their own group members that the times that they attempted to reach out to each other, nobody would respond. That is very careless for the group to do since they should be working together to make sure that their project is done correctly and ready for the presentation. I can understand when there are technical difficulties, but there were presenters that didn't even know that they were up to present. I also wish there was less text on their powerpoints because it turned into a read-along instead of a presentation where I can pay attention to the speaker.Group Three

The final group to present was Group Three. This was the group that I participated in and we presented last on Friday. In our presentation, we discussed the topics on racial divides and the pandemic in the United States. Both of these issues have been the most recent in the country, and the escalation of protests due to racial divides has increased dramatically since the death of George Floyd on May 25th. We communicated very eloquently throughout the presentation to put our points across to the classroom. I personally used a quick one minute video of the most recent protests to show just how serious the protests have become around the country. Our group did commit an error in virtually none of us using a webcam throughout the presentation. I personally do not have a webcam, and I found that to be an issue so I will try to buy one within the coming days in order to participate better when I present. I think it was very easy for the class to understand the presentation, and I even filled in for a student that did not have a part ready for the PowerPoint. I believe that proved without a doubt to the class that we had done prior research into our topics instead of just reading off our slides.
Very good reflection. Very good pick up for your group from you! You are a great team player!
