Groups 1,2 and 3 Reflection

Group One:

The first group was assigned to present about Chapter 3, which talked about Intercultural Communication. In the presentation the members showed the time spent, by adding almost one video per student and many colorful images that helped understand the topic. I think videos are a good way of expanding a little more about the topic that each member had, but at the same time if the video takes more than five minutes and maybe talks about something else that wasn’t according to the topic, the presentation might lose the audience’s attention which is the worst that can happen. Additionally, the fact that many of the slides contained many words ended up encouraging the audience to read all by themselves instead of listening to the person who was presenting at the moment. Overall, I liked the presentation and how the members presented their slides, even though the little mistakes that were made. At the end this helps us to perfect the way we do presentations, so later when a new opportunity comes up, we know what to do.

Group Two:

The Second group was chosen to talk about Chapter 9, Communication in Groups. The presentation was full of images and videos that gave a more interesting view about their topic, just like group 1 did. The members explained their part in a very understandable way. But again, one error that this group committed as well was the duration of their videos. Like I mentioned before, I think extensive videos end up taking the audience’s attention. Another detail that I didn’t enjoy that much was the fact that some people were just reading maybe a paper or the words that were in their slides. This can be seen as the lack of preparation from some members that might just have relied on reading instead of explaining with their own words. At the end, the information provided by the group members was clear and understandable for a very important theme like this one. Communication in groups was very important for all of us in this exercise, because this will help the groups rectify the mistakes that were made for future projects.

Group Three:

In the third group we were assigned to present about Group Leadership and Problem Solving. I think this was the easiest to understand because there was only one video in the whole presentation. At the same time that could affect the amount of information presented by the group because sometimes videos present different details that might help the audience understand what the person did talked about or will talk about. I liked this presentation as well because of how simple it was and the pictures that were included. Because we were the last group, I personally tried to pay attention to the previous groups to recollect information about how to do a good presentation. And generally, the 3 groups had almost the same mistakes like maybe not all members attending the presentation, or others not being ready for presenting their part. With all the knowledge gained from this experience, we now are going to be able to give a better performance next project. I enjoyed all the presentations and understood all the information provided by my group as well as the other students.
